AMTA-KY Chapter Message from your President – Update 2018 Annual Spring Conference

What a great turnout for our 2018 AMTA-KY Spring Conference March 9th thru 12th. If you were one of the Attendees, I hope you had a great experience. There was a great line-up of Educators that gave us more tools to add to our tool-belt. This year’s conference brought attendees in from 5 States! We even had a group travel 2 Hours from Ohio just to attend our Vendor Hall.  What a spectacular statement to make about our Vendors!
It is always so much fun to see everyone year after year, as well as meeting the First Timers.  If you didn’t get to join us, and you usually do, we did notice. If you have never been to one of our State Education Events, we hope to see you soon. We try very hard to accommodate schedules. Hopefully, it will work out for everyone, it is tentatively set for March 15th – 17th 2019.  At the request of our members, we will be returning to the Embassy Suites in Lexington. Please join us for stellar Education, Networking and a lot of laughs.
On March 10, 2018, I took the oath of office to be your next AMTA-KY Chapter President.  For the next two years, my focus will be on Volunteer Recruitment. By the recommendations of the previous AMTA-KY Board, as stated in Val Smothers presentation at the Spring Business meeting, your new Board is committed to focus on Volunteerism to ensure a strong future for your AMTA-KY Chapter.  In doing this, we have voted to not having a Summer or Fall education meeting for 2018. Our Volunteer base is thinning out. We have some Volunteers that have been here for our members for going on 10+ years. It is time to let them bow out gracefully and have others take on their Roles.

AMTA is turning 75 this year.  Can you imagine how many Volunteers it has taken to get today…75 years later?  Just on a state level, I personally know of at least 50 members who I have worked with in the past 11 years. I need you, the Board needs you, the Members need you and AMTA-KY Chapter needs you.  A quote by Elizabeth Andrew…”Volunteers do not necessarily have the time: they just have the heart”. It is so true.  I don’t have time for Volunteering…I have the Heart.  That Heart drives my passion for the AMTA-KY Chapter. That passion gives me the desire to give of my time.  If you have that Heart for YOUR Chapter, please contact me. I would love see where we can focus your Heart in serving your AMTA-KY Chapter.

Please remember…AMTA-KY needs you, and
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time: they just have the heart”.
Your AMTA-KY President,
Caren McCarty
